- When my mother died, I needed help with grieving, but I don't think grieving is the same as depression. However, at some point, my grieving turned into depression. Grieving is normal; we grieve all types of losses. Some people never stop grieving.

- Having served, I can say that part of the problem flows from the hierarchical chain of command. When a higher ranking soldier orders you to meet him in the middle of a field in during the middle of the night, you must go. Plus, you cannot just "quit" the military.

- Your example is not the same. I have bipolar disorder, a PhD, three master's degrees, two technical certifications--and have been told that if I ever need a transplant, I will not receive one, because of the mental illness. I decided not to be a donor then also.

- Children are not little adults. Many adults do not know right from wrong. As an educator, a PhD level instructional designer--specifically--I tell my students that studies are consistent: the average child cannot think abstractly until about age 13.

- What about using the "intentional infliction and negligent infliction of emotional distress" statutes that every state already has on the books. I sued recently for bullying and mobbing and won on those causes of action. The defendants offered no answer and no affirmative defenses.
